HOW TO VOTE IN
SOUTH CAROLINA

You must have a South Carolina driver's license or DMV ID to register to vote.

DMV IDs are free if you don't have a license.

 

Proof of residence is required.

REGISTER TO VOTE

You can register to vote online at scvotes.gov, by mail, or in person at your local county board of voter registration.

Registration deadlines:

October 7: In-person at local election office

October 9: Online

October 11: By mail (postmarked by)

If you are not yet 18 but will be before the General Election, you can still register to vote.

Go to scvotes.gov and enter your county, name, date of birth, and last 4 digits of your Social Security Number to get your voting precinct information.

CHECK YOUR VOTER INFO

ABSENTEE VOTING

You can no longer request an absentee ballot online. You must call, visit, or mail your absentee ballot request with your name, date of birth, and last 4 digits of your Social Security Number to your county board of voter registration.

 

You will receive your absentee ballot in the mail 30 days prior to the election. Fill out your ballot and follow the proper instructions before mailing it back to your county board.

Early voting begins on October 28th on weekdays from 8:30 am - 5:00 pm.

Your early voting precinct may be different than your regular precinct but you can always go to your county board of voter registration.

EARLY VOTING

Election day is Tuesday, November 8th from 7:00 am until 7:00 pm.

You must have your photo ID to vote.
